Electric roller garage door installation: the comfort of a garage that opens itself

One press on the remote from behind the wheel and the door glides up in silence: Store Xpress fits made-to-measure electric roller garage doors across Paris and the whole Île-de-France region, complete with obstacle detection and a manual override for power cuts.

An electric door: a comfort you never go back on

On a wet November evening, when the alternative is climbing out of the car to heave the garage door open, the question answers itself: the electric roller garage door has become the standard for houses across the Greater Paris region. From the driver's seat, one click on the transmitter is all it takes; the curtain rises in about fifteen seconds, the garage light can switch on automatically, and the door locks itself the moment it closes. Day after day, it is a saving in time, comfort and security that our clients in Rueil-Malmaison, Le Chesnay or Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois would never give up.

Store Xpress designs every electric door to measure: millimetre-accurate measurements, a curtain of insulated double-walled aluminium slats, a compact box and a motor sized to the exact weight of the curtain. Our fitters are also trained electricians: the power supply, control unit and accessories are wired neatly and to standard, with no unsightly exposed cables.

How does an electric roller door work?

A tubular motor hidden inside the barrel

The heart of the system is a tubular motor slid inside the winding barrel — completely invisible once the door is fitted. Powered at 230 V, it delivers 50 to 120 Nm of torque depending on the curtain area, with electronic limit switches that stop the door precisely at the top and bottom of its travel. The radio motors we install carry a five-year guarantee, with spare parts available for well over ten years.

Remote control, wall switch and keypad

Every installation includes two rolling-code radio remote controls — impossible to clone by simple interception — plus a wired or radio wall switch inside the garage. Options include an outdoor keypad for children coming home by bike, a key switch, or an extra receiver so the same remote also drives your gate.

Obstacle detection: a mandatory safety feature

In line with standard EN 13241, our electric doors come with obstacle detection: if the curtain meets resistance on the way down — a bicycle, a toy, a pet — it stops and immediately rises again. On request we add a safety edge on the bottom slat, photocells and a flashing light, essential for garages opening directly onto the pavement and for shared residential buildings.

The manual override for power cuts

What happens when the power goes out? Nothing dramatic: the manual override, a declutchable crank handle reachable from inside (or from outside via a lockable kit), lets you open and close the door by hand. You are never locked out — and your car is never held hostage.

Smart home: your garage in your pocket

Our radio motors are compatible with the main home-automation hubs (io-homecontrol, RTS, Zigbee depending on the range). In practice, that means opening your garage from your smartphone, checking from the office that it really is closed, creating a "leaving home" scene that shuts the garage door, the roller shutters and the gate in one tap, or getting a notification if the door stays open for more than ten minutes. For second homes in Seine-et-Marne, it also doubles as an excellent presence simulator.

Our installation service, from A to Z

A standard renovation installation is wrapped up in a single day. Unlike a motorised sectional door, there is no ceiling track and no drive arm cluttering the garage: the motor lives inside the barrel, full stop.

Wherever your garage is, the site survey is free and without obligation.

Frequently asked questions about electric garage doors

What happens during a power cut?

The manual override — an internal crank handle or an external lockable kit — lets you open and close the door without electricity. An optional back-up battery even provides several full cycles while the power is off.

Is the motorised door dangerous for children or pets?

No: obstacle detection stops the curtain and sends it back up at the slightest contact, in line with standard EN 13241. A safety edge and photocells add a further layer of protection on request.

Can I open the door with my smartphone?

Yes, by connecting the motor to a compatible smart-home hub: remote opening, door-status checks from anywhere, grouped scenes with the roller shutters and notifications if you forget to close up.

How long does a full installation take?

After two to three weeks of made-to-measure manufacture, the removal of the old door, the fitting of the new one and the electrical connection are all completed in a single day in most configurations.

Is the motor noisy?

A correctly sized tubular motor and guide rails with brush seals keep operation very discreet, at around 55 dB — quieter than a conversation. A real asset when the garage sits below a bedroom.
